She was inspired to start rowing by the Danish lightweight men's four that won a gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. "I heard it on the radio and I started [rowing] at school straight away. I started because I wanted to go to the Olympics." (worldrowing.com, 01 Jan 2013)

"Rowing is like a 'kransekage' [a traditional Danish layer cake]. Training is the layers and then comes the competitions - the cherry on top. But I actually like each layer just as much, because they taste just as good. And the cherry actually doesn't taste particularly good. But that's the experience, and when I'm at a competition, I think it's the coolest thing. But if I look at it as a whole, then I actually think all the layers taste equally good." NEW PARTNER
She initially planned to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in single sculls, but chronic arm pain hindered her performances. It was decided that she would team up with Laerke Berg Rasmussen to race in the coxless pair event, and the duo started training together just 20 days before the 2021 Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland. They finished second in their race, and secured a spot for Tokyo. "I agree that if a normal Olympic campaign is converted to one day, then we have only started with very few minutes to midnight. We cannot be good enough to win an Olympic medal in three weeks, but [after qualifying] we have a few months to the Olympics, and then we can get much better."
