"I discovered rowing after I attended a summer camp with my sister. At first I didn't like rowing at all because I was scared I'd fall into the water, but we have crabs in our canal and I did like fishing for the crabs after practice. That was what kept me going at the beginning." (worldrowing.com, 01 Jul 2017)

PARTNERSHIP
In October 2015 he paired with Tim Brys in the lightweight double sculls. Despite securing an Olympic qualification spot for the 2016 Games, the pair were not selected for the Games due to the Belgian Rowing Federation [BRF] only being allowed to send one boat to compete, which was with Hannes Obreno in single sculls. After the World Rowing Federation [FISA] revised their qualifying criteria for the 2020 Games in Tokyo, the pair earned their spot at the Games by winning the B-final at the 2019 World Championships in Linz, Austria. "After Tim and I weren't allowed to go to Rio, it made me stronger. I wouldn't be the to the rower I am today otherwise."
