General
PARTNERSHIP
In October 2015 he paired with Niels van Zandweghe in the lightweight double sculls. Despite securing an Olympic qualification spot for the 2016 Games, the pair were not selected for the Games due to the Belgian Rowing Federation [BRF] only being allowed to send one boat to compete, which was with Hannes Obreno in single sculls. After the World Rowing Federation [FISA] revised their qualifying criteria for the 2020 Games in Tokyo, the pair earned their spot at the Games by winning the B-final at the 2019 World Championships in Linz, Austria. "Niels and I complement each other well. I think over the years this became our biggest advantage. We have the luxury to have worked together for a long time, meaning we know what to expect from each other and what we bring to the crew." (NLroei Facebook page, 19 Jan 2020; Facebook team page, 14 Jan 2020; hln.be, 31 Aug 2019; worldrowing.com, Aug 2019)

FURTHER EDUCATION
He has studied for a master's degree in personnel organisational policy at Ghent University in Belgium. (LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2020)
