She took up the sport in 2008. (worldrowing.com, 01 Sep 2019)
:
"I began rowing in a club in Denmark just outside Copenhagen. We were a big group of junior rowers in my club, which provided both a competitive and fun environment. I trained on the same lake as the senior national team, which gave me an idea of what it takes to be fast. We had the opportunity to look at what they were doing and sometimes even do pieces against them. I also trained with a strong group of junior women and benefited from very competent coaching." FURTHER EDUCATION
In 2018 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in comparative literature and global studies with a minor in architecture from the University of Southern California [USC] in Los Angeles, CA, United States of America. The following year she completed a postgraduate degree in European and Latin American comparative literature and culture at Newnham College in Cambridge University in England. "I was approached in high school by the USC rowing team and immediately I sort of realised what kind of doors rowing could open for me. I realised I actually enjoyed studying and rowing together. You only have four years of athletic eligibility in the US, and I think I was also ready to take on a new challenge. Cambridge, not only is it just somewhere else, but it's a great place to study and row." ADAPTING TO HOME
She discovered new challenges in her training following her return to Denmark after spending time studying at the University of Southern California. "In Denmark, I started out having to cycle a lot in the autumn and over the winter. And then we found out that it didn't work right. I did not get the same out of it as the others. So I started doing some of the things that I had been doing for years. Namely, to replace the bike with ergometers. I lived in Los Angeles for four years, so I had gotten used to it being 24-25 degrees every day, and I miss that wildly. It has been difficult to get used to the fact that you get so cold out on the water even if we push ourselves." (roning.dk, 10 Feb 2020)
