General Interest

General
NEW TEAMMATE
He teamed up with Jason Osborne in the men's lightweight double sculls at the beginning of 2019 after Osborne's previous teammate, Lucas Schafer, was injured. They achieved success immediately, winning gold in their first international event at the European championships in 2019, as well as gold at the second and third World Cup regattas that year. Their winning streak ended with a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships in Linz Ottensheim, Austria. "We gelled really well from the start. When we first sat together in the boat, it felt like we had rowed together for a long time. Our two rowing styles complemented each other well. Jason and I are a good fit." (rp-online.de, 29 May 2019; waz.de, 03 Dec 2019)

LIGHTWEIGHT FUTURE
He believes the lightweight rowing category will be cut from the Olympic programme following the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I could handle the postponement of the Games, but had they been cancelled I do not think I could have waited another four years, especially as it seems unlikely that lightweight rowing will be on the Olympic schedule after Tokyo. It is an open secret that it is to be cut from the programme after Tokyo. So the only thing that remains for us is to be positive." (waz.de, 18 Mar 2020)
