BREAK FROM THE SPORT
In 2006 he had to give up rowing because of illness. He made a competitive return to the sport in 2014. "I always used to have a temperature, it was impaired thermoregulation. Leaving [rowing] was very difficult because results were starting to improve. At the beginning of the 2006 season doctors found they could not help. I had all kinds of tests examining the body but they found nothing." (15min.lt, 27 May 2015)
