He was inspired by his father, who was involved in rowing. "Since I was little, I saw him rowing. I was always drawn to the sea when I was young and all the sports I played had to do with the sea or the water. I wanted to try this sport and I became hooked. I started with friends for pleasure and, as we went along, we got involved in departmental and regional regattas, then the French championships. It's a sport in which you don't have to start early to reach a high level." (lagazettedemonaco.com, 06 Sep 2020; Athlete, 20 Jul 2021)

General Interest

General
STUDYING AND TRAINING IN ENGLAND
In 2018 he began studying for a master's degree in business management at Oxford Brookes University in England. He says being based in England provided him with improved training conditions. "Oxford is an institution in the world of rowing. I train with around 20 athletes, some hope to make the British Olympic team and win medals in the Games. It's a privilege to be with them. Oxford is the temple of rowing, along with Cambridge and London, in England. I was lucky to be able to go to college and find myself with a lot of English rowers trying to make the national team. There is a lot of dynamism, it has given me a lot on both a sporting and personal level - I speak better English now." (monaco-tribune.com, 30 Mar 2021; lagazettedemonaco.com, 06 Sep 2020; Facebook profile, 13 Jul 2018; LinkedIn, 2021)

MENTAL COACHING
Ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo he started working with a mental coach. "It helps me, especially in terms of my concentration in the boat. You have to be able to manage your own emotions during the race, to remain lucid, to stay focused on your technique, especially when a competitor is level with you or passes in front." (monacomatin.mc, 07 Jul 2021)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
While completing his undergraduate studies in sports management at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 in France, he also served as a rowing coordinator from 2015 to 2017 at the university. (LinkedIn, 2021)
