"The biggest stress factor is other people's expectations of me, which is something I have to manage. The way I do that is by having fun. If I'm having fun and enjoying the match, then I'm not worried about the results because I am having fun anyway. RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
In the lead-up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where karate will make its Olympic debut, he considered pursuing a career away from sport. "To have this opportunity at this point in my competitive career is really special and it really is a unique position. For me, the most exciting part of the whole process has been the path, the obstacles that were seen and overcome. Even before karate was an Olympic sport, I enjoyed it.
