He took up judo at age 13. "I started judo mostly for fun. I think in 2016, when I studied in Japan, I was there for like one semester, that's when I was training really hard and trying to improve my judo. That's when I got my first black belt." "Since I was a child I have been fascinated by Japanese culture and martial arts. Basically my brother's married to a Japanese woman, and she was our judo sensei when I was a kid. I was also inspired by the WWF, and growing up I always loved Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan. I started with Muay Thai and I enjoyed the physical hard training. Then my brother took me to the judo, and I just fell in love with it. Starting off we did a lot of flips and rolling, it was so much fun." ISRAEL EXPERIENCE
He trained with the Israeli national team when he visited the country for the 2020 Grand Prix event in Tel Aviv. "The greatest experience I had with training worldwide is when I was in Israel. That's the kind of training to be happening in Samoa someday. We had a competition in Tel Aviv and I was there for about three weeks, but I got to train one week with the Israeli national team. That's like some of the world's best judo players. The training that they had, maybe 100 judo players, and full on hard training every day."
