Her husband Fadi Darwish has represented the Syrian Arab Republic in judo and wrestling. He competed in judo at the Asian Games in 2006, 2010, and 2014, and in sambo wrestling at the 2012 World Championships in Minsk, Belarus. He has also worked as a coach with the International Judo Federation [IJF] Refugee Team.
