Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, to a Ukrainian mother and a Guinean father, he spent time living in Africa and Ukraine during his youth. "My mother is Ukrainian and my father was born in the African country of Guinea-Bissau. My parents were studying at Taras Shevchenko University [in Kyiv, Ukraine] where they got acquainted. They began dating and then got married. We lived at Shota Rustaveli street [in Kyiv]. Then we all moved to Africa and lived for three or four years there before my parents got divorced.
