General
CONCUSSION
While competing at the 2021 World Masters in Doha, Qatar, he sustained a concussion and suffered from serious side effects. "I struck my head on the floor. I have received stronger blows, but this one was different. I tried to get back to my knees but my head did not control the rest of my body. I wanted to continue, but fortunately the doctor stopped me. Afterwards, I moved in slow motion and felt very tired, unable to hold a conversation. One day I was with my brother and suddenly my eyes went backwards, my jaw felt loose and my brain completely switched off. It started to get worse from there." He wants other athletes and coaches to be more aware of the dangers of concussions. "My fear has gone because I talked to experts and saw a psychologist. That's why I want to talk about the subject, to share my experience and prevent other people feeling alone. There is a trend to play down concussions as just a blow to the head. If you see someone who receives a big hit and wants to continue in combat, stop them." (francetvinfo.fr, 19 Feb 2021)
