Her father Aldo Pareto encouraged her and her brother to take up the sport, in order to improve their self-defence. "When I started there weren't many girls doing judo. There were one or two other girls, but no more than that. Sometimes I went months being the only girl training. I loved being the only one because I was like the little princess of the dojo, from the teacher down, everyone had a separate respect for me." RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She has considered retiring from competitive sport after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I do not know if I will continue after the Olympic Games because I have two persistent injuries and my body is beginning to feel the strain after all these years. I have also had back surgery. But this all makes me go to Japan ready to give everything I've got." (telemundowashingtondc.com, 12 Apr 2021)

OCCUPATION
She has worked as a trauma doctor at a hospital in Argentina. During the COVID-19 pandemic she also helped support other departments. "In the hospital the cases are increasing, but the health system hasn't collapsed, which is the fear everyone has. Even if we work in traumatology we give to the other doctors in the medical team a hand. Obviously we are also attending the patients who come to our department. We had some patients in traumatology affected by coronavirus, so we had to be extra careful in order to help them and ourselves." (tokyo2020.org, 11 Feb 2021; insidethegames.biz, 18 Apr 2021)
