Her father Csaba Csernovicki has coached the Hungarian women's national judo team and has also served as a commissioner on the European Judo Union's coaches commission. (Hungarian federation, 27 Jul 2009; eju.net, 01 Nov 2011; eju.net, 23 May 2016)
:
Her father was a judoko and a coach. She took up the sport at age seven at the Ippon Judo Club in Tatabanya, Hungary. (eju.net, 17 Jun 2014; Athlete, 2012)
:
She began judo after watching the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona on television. "I wasn't doing judo at the time, in fact I wasn't doing any sport at all. That was the time it became clear to me that I wanted to be an Olympic champion too. The question was, in which sport? Dad wanted me to do gymnastics. One day, I stepped on the mat and did what dad was telling the group and started to throw others. I loved it so much and I think that was the time when he accepted me not just as his daughter but his judoka." (eju.net, 17 Jun 2014)

"When they say judo is more than a sport, it is very true. Judo gave me determination, ambition and taught me never to give up on anything. All the key elements we learn through judo are key elements in life." (eju.net, 17 Jun 2014)
:
In recognition of winning a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she received the Junior Prima Award, the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit and the Bay Megyeert Professional Award in Hungary. She was also made an honorary citizen of the village of Tarjan in Hungary. (Facebook page, 20 May 2016)

RETIREMENT PLANS
She plans to retire following the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She withdrew at the second round stage of the 2021 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary - her first competition since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] injury in December 2020 - to save herself for the 2020 Games. "I had no expectations, I was just pleasantly excited about my performance. I already feel like a winner, as I came back from a very deep point after a long absence. I discussed with my father that on the one hand I needed matches, but I shouldn't risk my injured leg. I don't feel stable yet [speaking in June 2021], as it has been six months since the operation. This is my last world championships and my penultimate event, so yes, I am quite disappointed, but I had to think rationally about it. We had to make this decision so that I can properly prepare for the Olympics." (magyarnemzet.hu, 06 Jun 2021)

FAMILY COACH
She enjoys having her father as her coach. "I have to say it is really great. During my teenage years I occasionally wished it was different, as I would always question why I should listen to my dad. I had a bit of typical teenage stubbornness but I quickly grew out of it. It is priceless when you're feeling down and disappointed and you have a coach and family member in one person you can rely on. Often the calendar is so hectic that others don't see their family for several months. I am his daughter, he knows me more than anyone and sometimes that extra fatherly support helps me to go further." (eju.net, 17 Jun 2014)
