He took up judo at age seven. (rus.postimees.ee, 28 Apr 2016)
:
"In childhood I fell in love with sports. I started doing karate, but I didn't really like it, my arms and legs hurt after training. At age seven, thanks to my mother's friend, I met judo coach Felix Sahakyan. He was the first coach of [Estonian judoka] Aleksei Budolin. Even in my early days of competing I always did well. Which sport I wanted to pursue was no longer in question." (rus.postimees.ee, 28 Apr 2016)
:
Coach Felix Sahakyan. "Felix was like a father to me. I don't remember my father, but I loved Felix very much, and he taught me to love judo." (rus.postimees.ee, 28 Apr 2016)
:
He was named 2019 Senior Judoka of the Year by the Estonian Judo Federation. (audentes.ee, 12 Dec 2019; Audentese Spordiklubi Judo Facebook page, 12 Dec 2019)
