MEDICAL CONDITIONS
At age 16 she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, a condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland in the throat, and two years later developed hypothyroidism [underactive thyroid gland]. Both conditions have impacted her performances. "When I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, it finally explained the terrible fatigue, energy drops and bouts of lethargy. Two years later, I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which slows down my metabolism. I've been on hormone therapy since I was 16, but despite everything, I didn't want the disease to stop me.
