He decided to focus solely on judo instead of other sports when he was offered a place on the judo team at Nihon University in Tokyo, Japan. However, in August 2017 he was expelled from the team because he was late for the training camp several times, resulting in him having to train on his own. In November 2017 he was forgiven by the head coach and allowed to return to the team. "When I became alone, I realised how much I was fortunate to have a training venue and teammates, and I was only able to do judo with the support of everyone."
