General
ALMOST QUIT
She considered quitting the sport in 2017 following disappointing results, but after winning bronze at the world championships in Budapest, Hungary, that year, she decided to continue. "This is the result of so many hours, months and years of training. I was so close to a medal in 2013 [World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil] when I finished in fifth place. But the medal finally came [in 2017]. If the result had been negative, maybe right there I would have finished with judo. Now it is like I have a second chance. It is very hard for an athlete to work and continue working without getting a world class victory like this one, and only getting losses. Now I am more motivated, and I think it is possible to win a medal [at the 2020 Olympic Games] in Tokyo." (periodicovictoria.cu, 02 Sep 2017)
