MOTIVATION
After losing her motivation towards the end of 2019, she approached her father for advice on how to bounce back in 2020. He advised her to pick a keyword for the year and try to manifest it in her thoughts and actions. The results were emphatic. "My world was turned upside down at the end of 2019. I felt incredibly overwhelmed, disempowered, and like I no longer had a purpose or direction in life. During this time I had a conversation with dad, which was a catalyst for a major shift in my life. The conversation was about shifting my paradigm and the power of words. He suggested I should pick a focus word for 2020 - a word that would encompass all that I want to be and feel. I found myself at the word 'liberate'. To help me approach each day, to provide me with a feeling to strive for, dad suggested writing it on a rock, as an anchoring reminder. But I took it further. I wrote it in my journal, on my wrist for my last games of 2019, and on my shower for a daily reminder. I began saying it to myself when navigating situations. All I knew was, whatever I did, I wanted to feel liberated. So I worked out what that looked like and allowed it to influence my choices and how I conducted myself. I chose to run/move every day and became the fittest/healthiest I had ever been. I chose forgiveness. I chose to react to situations as the most calm and understanding version of myself. I made sure that every choice offered me liberty, which was a feeling I found imperative to my happiness and sense of purpose." (Facebook profile, 02 Jan 2021)
