General Interest

General
ADAPTING TO OUTDOOR HOCKEY
When he was younger he played indoor hockey more often than he did outdoor. He has since committed more to the outdoor game but says there are transferable skills between the two. "Indoor hockey and outdoor hockey specialise in a different set of skills. So being able to play indoor hockey will definitely sharpen up your outdoor skills. For example, indoor skills allows one to advance your close quarter elimination skills, which is highly effective when it comes to playing outdoor hockey." (psihockey.co.za, 16 Aug 2016)

COACHING
Alongside his playing commitments he is also a hockey coach which he says has taught him about a different side of the game. "I focus on getting small things right to make sure I get the best out of my players. By achieving that, you have to know your players and their goals, you need to practise creating a democratic coaching environment, you need to always be prepared and punctual for training and matches and you have to try and be the calmest person on the pitch. The list goes on but those are a few of the important attributes that I really try and implement as a coach." (psihockey.co.za, 16 Aug 2016)
