RETIREMENT PLANS
In 2019 she announced her retirement from international competition in order to focus on her club career. In November 2020 she then announced her plans to retire from the sport all together following the conclusion of the 2020/21 season, which she played in Denmark with Odense Handbold. However, she returned to the Dutch national team in 2021 in order to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "After many years at the top level with handball, I am both physically and mentally worn out. When you have to play at the highest level, it requires you to have the necessary surplus on all parameters, and I can feel that the batteries are running low, so it is time to stop [playing professional handball] while the game is good.
