He was assistant coach at Boavista men's team in Portugal from 1994 to 1996 before serving as both assistant coach and head coach during his time at FC Porto men's team in Portugal between 1999 and 2006. He took over as head coach at Clube Balonmano Cangas men's team in Spain from 2006 to 2008. He was head coach of the Angola women's national team from 2009 to 2010, and coached Angolan women's side CD Primeiro de Agosto between 2010 and 2013. He was head coach of the Tunisian women's national team from 2013 to 2016 before accepting the role as head coach of Esperance de Tunis in Tunisia from 2015 to 2016. He served as the head coach of CSM Bucuresti in Romania from 2018 to 2020.
