He coached the France women's team to the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He won world titles in 2003 and 2017, and also led the team to silver at the world championships in 1999, 2009 and 2011. He was technical adviser to the French national team from 1984 to 1992, which he combined with a coaching role at the ASPTT Metz women's team from 1986 to 1995. He coached the French junior women's team from 1992 to 1998, and then had his first spell as head coach of the French women's team between 1998 and 2013.
