LEAVING MONTPELLIER
In late 2020 both he and Montpellier Handball confirmed his departure from the club at the end of the 2020/21 season. "A lot of things came into my decision to leave, including the desire for a new adventure, a new challenge." In March 2021 he said he was yet to decide where he would play next. "I have been speaking with a number of big clubs and will make an announcement later. For now, I'm focusing on the Olympics." (la1ere.francetvinfo.fr, 12 Mar 2021; ledauphine.com, 12 Mar 2021; lequipe.fr, 03 Feb 2021; sport365.fr, 31 Mar 2021)

HANDBALL HERITAGE
His father, Jackson Richardson, is regarded as one of the best handball players of all time. While he is often compared to his father, he says there are few similarities between them and he does not feel the burden of carrying his father's name. "The advantage already is that we do not play at the same position and that we do not have the same style of play. My dad is right-handed while I'm left-handed, really, there is nothing to compare handball-wise. After that, I don't dwell too much on these kinds of questions, even if there will always be some. There are lots of things that differentiate us. We call each other a lot, but no more than any other dad and son, I guess. Wearing his name has never been a pressure for me. I see it more as a source of motivation. My father knows handball very well, he can advise me in terms of the game, but also in career management."
