LATE SELECTION
He received his first call-up to the France national team at age 37, almost 20 years after he started his career in the sport. "It is above all a reward for a lot of work. Sometimes a youngster crushes everything in his early stages and all the doors open at once. Me, I took my time, a little too much! You end up hoping without hoping. You keep doing what you're doing, and if you're not there, you're not. Besides, I was born in the wrong generation [of French handball]. For me, integrating into the national team is easy, natural. I can understand that a young person can put pressure on himself, but me, no [I don't feel pressure]. I just have to do what I can do." (lamontagne.fr, 05 Jul 2020;lindependant.fr, 08 Jan 2019)

PSG MOVE
He joined Paris Saint-Germain in mid-2020, ahead of the 2020/21 Starligue season on a two-year deal to 2021/22. He said it was a dream move after growing up and starting his career in Paris. "A dream is coming true today. I started handball in the Paris region and it is a very special feeling to come back to it by signing up with Paris Saint-Germain, one of the most prestigious clubs on the planet. I will take a new step in my career and have the opportunity to show my value at the highest European level. It is also a family adventure. It is, for us, a return to the Paris region. I played twenty years in Val-d'Oise [with Saint-Gratien], five in 93 [with Villepinte] before leaving." (lnh.fr, 18 Jul 2019; leparisien.fr, 09 Oct 2019)
