RETURN TO NATIONAL TEAM
Despite finishing the 2016/17 Starligue season as the league's second top scorer, he was left without a club when his contract with Creteil expired at the end of the season. He moved to Romania where he played for two seasons with Dinamo Bucharest, before he was offered a contract with Montpellier in 2019. His performances for Montpellier earned him a recall to the French national side in late 2020 for qualification matches for the European championship, which was his first national team call up since 2013. He went on to represent France at the 2021 World Championship in Egypt. (ouest-france.fr, 26 Jan 2021; lemonde.fr, 29 Jan 2021)

OUTSPOKEN NATURE
He has admitted to being outspoken in nature, but he believes he has been judged unfairly in the past and that this contributed to him not being offered a contract with a French club in 2017, leading him to move to Romania for two seasons. "People have heard things, that I am not manageable, that I'm not easy to work with. But I've never had any problems with anyone, not in Creteil nor in Bucharest. Yes, I do say what I think, I do not apply a filter. But I would never cause any trouble. When I was in Creteil, people said I was not diligent in training, that I did not get along with my coaches, that I was a bad boy. I've been told that I have a big mouth, and yes, it's true, I do have a big mouth, but I also take responsibility for it. Maybe I didn't do everything the correct way in the past. But I've changed, I've grown up, both as an individual and as a player."
