General Interest

General
RETURN TO BAHRAIN
He first coached the Bahrain men's national team from 2018 to 2020. He initially agreed to join Icelandic men's side Haukar following the conclusion of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo but after the Games were postponed for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he decided to leave his role as Bahrain coach in 2020. He returned to his role as head of coach of the Bahrain men's national team in March 2021. "I signed with Haukar as my family lives in Iceland and I was originally going to return there following Tokyo 2020. But COVID-19 changed everything, the Olympics were moved, and it all meant I could not be in Bahrain and honour my contract in Iceland at the same time as I had been travelling backwards and forwards between the two countries for the previous two years. I helped them [Bahrain] qualify for the Olympics and of course it's something you want to finish with the team. Now, the federation think the best solution is that I come and go. It had to be a solution that fitted everybody involved, both Bahrain and Haukar." (powerupsports.net, 26 Mar 2021; ihf.info, 26 Aug 2020, 05 May 2021; visir.is, 16 Jul 2020)
