General Interest

General
GOLD AT RIO 2016
She won gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro despite struggling with injury in the months prior to the Games. "The year, 2016, was my most meaningful, having won the Olympic gold, which is priceless to me. But it was also the roughest year of my entire career. I felt so much pressure because of my first Olympics and also the injury. I was pretty free of injuries until my 10th year on tour. It had to happen [at some point]. I worked hard. That year [2016], I struggled mentally and technically. I thought that I had to overcome those pressures and was desperate to accomplish something. I never felt like that before. Even though I have competed in many top-level tournaments, the Olympics was something different. I learned a lot from the experience and I love that such a good result came out of the struggle." (espn.go.com, 07 Jun 2016; olympics.com, 13 May 2020)

HUSBAND, COACH AND CADDIE
Her husband Nam Ki-Hyup began serving as her swing coach in 2012 before marrying her in 2014. In 2020 he began working as her caddie. "We were unsure about a husband being a caddie for his wife, but when we worked together, it worked better than I thought. It really helps me, being with my husband. He is a game changer in my life. He makes me feel a sense of stability and always watches my swing. He upgraded my game." (golfdigest.co.kr, 27 Apr 2021; hankyung.com, 01 Jan 2021; mhnse.com, 01 Apr 2021)

FURTHER EDUCATION
She has studied for a postgraduate degree in international public relations and public diplomacy at Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul, Republic of Korea. (naver.com, 01 Apr 2021)
