"I found myself in golf completely by chance after a family lunch. It was my mother who told me to, 'Try before you judge', although nobody in my family played golf. My first coach Jean-Marie Kazmierczak has passed on to me his love of golf and after a month of classes I was completely hooked. My parents sometimes confiscated my clubs during school holidays in order to see me." (golfez-maroc.com, 19 Jul 2016)

When I told them when I was 15 that I would be gone for two months to play tournaments, they encouraged me and were really excited and sent my coach with me. INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION
In 2020 she spoke about her hopes to inspire future generations of female Arab golfers. "I don't really think of myself a trailblazer. I'm just doing my thing, I'm just going for my dreams and my goals, and if that can inspire young girls, then I'm very happy about that. Sometimes it is hard being the only one doing something, but if it can inspire other people, then that's the best gift I can ever have. I think in the coming years there will be a lot more Arab female professional golfers. The game changed my life. I travel the world doing what I love. I wish the same for every woman in the Arab world, to pursue these opportunities." (vogue.me, 12 Nov 2020; arabnews.com, 11 Nov 2020; bbc.com, 10 Nov 2020)

EARLY DAYS
She played against male golfers growing up in Morocco and only began playing against female competition in 2006 when she attended Lynn University in the United States of America. "I didn't have any women to compete with in Morocco, I was used to playing against men. But I think that helped improve my game as I was often playing off the same tees as them. So, when I got to take part in college tournaments in the USA it wasn't exactly easier, but it meant I was already used to playing at that level." (womenandgolf.com, 12 Nov 2020)
