She enjoyed playing football with the boys in school, but had to practise in secret to avoid letting her mother find out that she was playing football. Her mother thought that the sport should only be played by boys. "My love for football began when I was very young. Football was a major part of my life then and my male friends made me like the game even more. My mother didn't see it that way, so she sent me away to live with my uncle in Kasama, Northern Province. After returning from Kasama two years later, there was a girl's football team at Kansenshi Secondary school that played in provincial competitions. Teachers asked me to join the team on the recommendation of my friends." (cafonline.com, 06 Oct 2020; zescounitedfc.co.zm, 16 Jul 2020)

OUTSCORING BANDA
She admits that she was surprised to finish ahead of teammate and Zambian captain Barbra Banda as top scorer in the Confederation of African Football [CAF] Olympic Qualifying Tournament. "I had a feeling that I would be scoring goals, but did not expect to be the top scorer. It is a great honour. I was actually expecting our captain Barbra to be the top scorer. She thrives under pressure with her intelligent play and speed, unlike me. I have the skills, yes, but lack the pace. But I use my strength when I'm in space to the fullest." (cafonline.com, 06 Oct 2020)

ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN
She has seven siblings and says that her football has enriched her family's life financially. "My dad is a builder, my mother is a housewife, and I am now one of the bread winners through football. Football has made a huge difference to our lives as a family, especially with my travels with the national team." (cafonline.com, 06 Oct 2020)

CAREER TURNING POINT
She believes that winning the Top Scorer award and being named as Player of the Tournament at the Rising Star Tournament in Zambia in 2013 launched her career in football and convinced her mother that she had a future in the sport. "I was determined to show everyone, especially my family, that my future was in the game. I worked hard and emerged as the Rising Star Tournament's top scorer and best player. It was an important moment for me because it was a big turning point in my career. I think it was a moment when my mother realised that I was good at the sport." (zescounitedfc.co.zm, 16 Jul 2020)
