He first left South Africa to play abroad in 2018 when he moved on loan to Portuguese club AD Sanjoanense. The following year, he secured a permanent move to Portuguese side SC Braga B. He admits he has found it difficult to adjust to certain parts of life away from South Africa. "I am always on [digital streaming services] because if I go out I don't know where to go. Sometimes I eat dinner out with my teammates, but it's rare that I go out. I cannot lie, the food is not great. I miss my mum's pots, especially my favourite food, chicken. In Portugal they cook it differently and I always feel South African chicken is the best. In terms of the language [Portuguese], I am still struggling but I am learning it bit by bit.''
