General Interest

General
Poland will be making their first Olympic appearance in the event in Tokyo, and qualified for the 2020 Games as one of the world's top four ranked nations.

Despite never participating in women's team epee at the Olympic Games, Poland twice finished on the podium at the world championships in the decade between 2009 and 2019. They won silver after defeat to Italy in the final in 2009, and bronze behind the Chinese team and gold medallists Estonia in 2017. However, since 2017, they have failed to advance past the quarterfinal stage, losing to the Russian Federation by one point in 2018 and going down to Ukraine in 2019.

Poland arrive in Tokyo as the reigning European champions. At the 2019 European Championships in Dusseldorf, they beat Belgium, Hungary and France as they progressed to the gold medal match against the Russian Federation. They prevailed in a tight final by a one-point margin, 26-25.
