LATE CALL
Italy secured an individual starting place in dressage for the 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo after Norway's Ellen Birgitte Farbrot decided to withdraw her entry in June 2021. It was expected that Russian-born Italian Tatiana Miloserdova would fill the reallocated slot, but she was not eligible to compete at the 2020 Games because the ownership of her horse Florento Fortuna had not been switched to Italian nationality, when Miloserdova changed her allegiance from the Russian Federation to Italy in 2018. "The call-up for Tokyo 2020 was a real surprise and I take this opportunity to give a virtual hug to Tatiana Miloserdova who, due to a formal abnormality, was unable to take part in the Olympic adventure."
