In January 2017 he purchased an equestrian centre in Elgg, Switzerland. He had previously been based at the stables of Urs E. Schwarzenbach in Herrliberg. "The 10 years there were beautiful but the time came to move forward. Here in Elgg, I found my dream destination. This is exactly what I wanted. RETIRED HORSE
In December 2016 he retired Nino des Buissonnets, the horse on which he won gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. "I've thought long and hard about it since the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and I have no doubts about my decision. He's now 16, and competing at that age has its risks, risks that I'd rather not take as I so much want him to finish on a high note. OTHER ACTIVITIES
In 2013 he became an ambassador for Right to Play, an organisation that aims to support disadvantaged children. In 2018 he became a patron of the Regar2moi charity in France that helps children with an impairment, particularly those with autism, to improve their lives through sports.
