His family spent their holidays at a hotel that offered horse riding. Afterwards, he bought a foal and began riding every day. "I always loved horses, and started to ride when I was very small." (worldofshowjumping.com, 26 Mar 2019; studforlife.com, 07 Jul 2014)

"My strongest quality, in everything I do, is that I'm a trier. I don't give up. So don't give up. Don't look too much to others, this is your life and story. Do your dreams your way." (worldofshowjumping.com, 26 Mar 2019)

CAREER
He bought his first horse at age 13 and soon realised he wanted to become a professional rider. His family went on to experience financial problems and he was forced to sell his horse, withdraw membership from his riding club and drop out of university. He decided to move to Europe and work minor jobs until he found employment as a groom at Ludo Philippaerts' yard in Belgium. He returned to Brazil to become a horse trader in 2001, and in 2004 he began importing horses from Europe. In 2014 he set up a stable in Belgium, near Opglabbeek, and at the beginning of 2017 he moved to Venlo, Netherlands, where he set up his QH Horses yard. "I wasn't expecting to come to the Netherlands, but it was difficult to find a place in Belgium." (Horse & Country TV YouTube channel, 30 Jul 2017; yurimansur.com, 26 Nov 2016; porforadaspistas.com.br, 07 Apr 2015; tlhd.com.br, 01 Feb 2014; feivet.com, 12 Apr 2011)

YELLOW JACKET
He is known for wearing a yellow jacket during competitions. "A group of horsemen used to work for me in my business of horse trading. Then they became rivals and we had potentially the same clients. So I wanted to differentiate myself. I always thought that the jacket of the Brazilian team had to be yellow. Also, when I saw Luis Felipe Azevedo compete in the World Cup Final I thought he should wear a yellow jacket, as he represented Brazil, like the Brazilian footballers do. When the Dutch started to use orange jackets competing I thought about it again when I came to Europe." (worldofshowjumping.com, 26 Mar 2019; yurimansur.com, 26 Nov 2016)
