His parents Mario and Maristela developed a project called Equitakids in Maceio, Brazil. The scheme aims to encourage children to take up equestrian sport from an early age. His brothers Marcel, Mario, and Marcos have all been involved in equestrian sport. His wife Angelica Augustsson was part of the Sweden equestrian jumping team that won team bronze at the 2013 European Championships in Herning, Denmark. MOVING ON
In October 2016 he and his wife Angelica Augustsson left Ashford Farm in Bocholt, Belgium, to set up their own stables in Eksel, Belgium. "We have bought a house here and my family lives close by, so we would like to find a stable to rent in this area. We hope to find some nice young horses to build up, and to do both the sport and trading, whilst continuing to work with [Ashford Farm owner] Enda Carroll." FROM THE AMERICAS TO EUROPE
After riding for Helio Pessoa in Guatemala and Yuri Mansur in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he went to Europe to ride under Belgian jumper Ludo Philippaerts in April 2008. "I thought I would get there and just immediately participate in contests and ride good horses but I had to earn my space, which was a very good experience. The biggest difficulty was being away from friends and family. The culture was also a major barrier because it is very different from my own."
