He first tried the sport at age six while on holiday in Campos do Jordao, Brazil. He later learned to ride at Clube Hipico de Santo Amaro in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He competed in equestrian jumping before switching to eventing in 2013, after being inspired by the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
