STABLES
His parents set up Ecurie Delestre near Metz, France, with just a few horses when Simon was a child. Delestre took up an active role in the business in 2001, and by 2011 was running it largely by himself. (simon-delestre.fr, 01 Dec 2020; ecuriesimondelestre.fr, 01 Apr 2014)

WITHDRAWAL
He could not take part at the 2018 World Equestrian Games [WEG] in Tryon, NC, United States of America, after the owner of his main horse, Hermes Ryan des Hayettes, refused to take the risk of transporting the horse to the event. Hermes Ryan des Hayettes had sustained an injury during the flight to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "It is a hard decision, but it is not mine, for I had based my complete season upon this event. The horse has not had a long flight since Rio and the owner [Philippe Berthol] does not want to take the risk. Ryan is no longer 10 years old and if some kind of physical problem might happen it would mean, surely, the end of his career."
