She took up gymnastics at age four and switched to diving after sustaining multiple knee injuries. "After two kneecap injuries in 2010 and 2011, I had to end my dream of artistic gymnastics relatively quickly. I knew I wanted to go back to the world of sports. The criteria were relatively easy to define, the sport had to be knee-friendly, could be practised indoors and outdoors, must be an Olympic discipline. I ended up diving into the water.
