His mother Mandy was on the US national diving team from 1980 to 1984 and has worked as a diving coach at the University of Massachusetts in the United States of America. His father David has served as head coach of the men's basketball team at Amherst College and was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
