General Interest

General
CAMBODIA TO THE US
Born in Cambodia, he was adopted at age 18 months from an orphanage in Phnom Penh by Jerry Windle from Florida, United States of America. His birth parents had died when he was age one. In 2011 he co-authored a children's book with his father called 'An Orphan No More: The True Story of a Boy' detailing their story. "I dive not only for the United States, but also for the people of Cambodia, my birth country. If I can be an inspiration to even one child in Cambodia I will know I made a difference." (olympics.nbcsports.com, 12 Jun 2021; Facebook profile, 30 Oct 2020)

MENTOR
Since the start of his career he has been mentored by four-time Olympic gold medallist, Greg Louganis. "Just like Greg Louganis taught me since the beginning to always have fun and treat it like a sport's supposed to be - go out there and be a competitor - and that's what I intend to do [at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo]." (olympics.nbcsports.com, 12 Jun 2021)

AMBASSADOR
He has served as an ambassador for the 'Kids Play International' children's charity. (kidsplayintl.org, 01 May 2016)
