General
PARTNERSHIP
She began competing in 3m synchronised springboard with Laura Sanchez in 2018. Chavez also relocated to Leon, Mexico, where she began training with Sanchez's coach, Francisco Rueda. "We had already teamed up but then we didn't have the chance to be together anymore as we were in different teams. Now we share almost everything, the same coach, and we train together every day which is very helpful in terms of a better synchronisation." (milenio.com, 12 Sep 2020; marca.com, 28 Jul 2020, 17 Apr 2020)

RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She took eight months away from the sport after failing to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "I was disappointed not to qualify for the Games and decided to go away. I talked to my coach and he gave me some options. Winning my gold individual medal [at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Chinese Taipei] made me realise what I would lose if I retire."
