General Interest

General
Germany lost the final for seventh place to Belarus at the 2012 Games in London, which was the first time women's team pursuit had appeared on the Olympic programme. They were the slowest of nine teams during qualification at Rio 2016 and did not progress to the first round.

The Germans claimed bronze at the 2020 World Championships in Berlin. They were only the seventh-fastest team in qualification but their time in the first round was more than four seconds quicker. That was enough to make the bronze medal final, where they were more than seven seconds faster than Canada. Germany also won bronze at the 2008 World Championships, beating Belarus in the third-place final.

Germany have won four medals at the European championships since 2010, including silver in 2019 and bronze in 2018, but they are still looking for their first continental title. They recorded the fastest time in the first round at their most recent appearance at the tournament in 2019, but the British team upped their game in the gold medal final and the Germans had to settle for the runners-up spot.
