Ireland's Shannon McCurley and Emily Kay are yet to compete in madison together at a major tournament. They qualified for Tokyo 2020 through the Olympic track rankings.

Kay previously represented Great Britain and won silver at the 2016 European Championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines with Emily Nelson. She switched nationality to compete for Ireland in 2019.

McCurley was ranked ninth at the 2019 World Championships in Pruszkow while competing with Lydia Boylan.
