Aaron Gate and Campbell Stewart won the silver medal at the 2020 World Championships. Stewart was making his world championship debut at the tournament in Berlin, while Gate was competing for the second time having placed 13th with Tom Scully in 2011 in Apeldoorn.

Both men are also medallists at the Oceania championships with different partners. Gate claimed silver in 2010 and bronze in both 2009 and 2013, while Stewart secured gold in 2017 and silver in 2019.
