She began following the Hong Kong, China cycling team after watching cyclist Lee Wai Sze compete at the 2012 Olympic Games in London on television. In January 2017 she took part in a cycling competition in Hong Kong, China, and four months later received an email from national coach Shen Jinkang, who invited her to join the team.
