She first practised dance alongside her sister, while their brother practised cycling. She eventually took up cycling and stayed in the sport despite her brother quitting. Coach Alain Midelet encouraged her to try track cycling. "It was him who pushed me to the track. He told me, 'You'll ride on a track bike, you have no other option.' When you are in the minor ranks, the track is frightening. It's not like everybody wanted to practise it, like cyclo-cross. He put me on the track and I've never left since."
