She took a two-month break from the sport in 2018 after witnessing her teammate Kristina Vogel crash during training. Vogel collided with another cyclist at a speed of about 60kph, sustaining a serious spinal cord injury that led to paraplegia. Grabosch resumed training in August the same year. "The accident definitely knocked me off the track. I had to pull myself together myself bit by bit. My body and mind no longer played along. I just couldn't get my performance back and had to keep a distance from the sport. Our fundraising for Kristina helped me cope with the situation."
