She first tried track cycling in 2013 in Panevezys, Lithuania. She began focusing on the sport the following year. (alfa.lt, 05 Dec 2016)

She did athletics for seven years and specialised in sprinting. The athletics arena in Panevezys was close to the cycling track, and one day cycling coach Antanas Jakimavicius spotted her and encouraged her to switch sports. "Panevezys is a city of cyclists. The biggest motivation is that it is possible to achieve much more in track cycling than in athletics." (alfa.lt, 05 Dec 2016)
