"A neighbour of mine was riding a lot and sometimes he took me on the rides, so when I was 10 years old I asked my mother if I could join a club or if I could do some races. I had to call the president of the cycling club in the area and they gave me a bike, I did the first race after two weeks with the new bike and then things went on and on. I liked it, I always did it for fun and when I discovered I was pretty good at it and I could win races, it became more fun." (caferoubaix.com, 04 Feb 2015)

TRACK ASSISTANCE
He has represented Switzerland in track cycling at the world championships. "It still helps me a lot, because on the track you get the speed in your legs. It's a fixed gear and you get a good pedal stroke. It's high cadence racing, high intensity, and you have to know how to move in the bunch, how to use your elbows and body in order to get the best position. In my opinion, it is the best school you can have as an athlete and it really helps you grow." (caferoubaix.com, 04 Feb 2015)

DUAL NATIONALITY
He competes for Switzerland but is also eligible to represent Liechtenstein. "My grandmother is from Liechtenstein. My mother had the citizenship as well and it got passed on to her children. I even raced for Liechtenstein at the Games for Small European Countries. Switzerland is not part of this federation so I was allowed to race. It was a great opportunity because even though I never lived in Liechtenstein, I have a strong relationship with this country. Some aunts and uncles of mine live there and through these races I made some good friends in Liechtenstein, whom I still go to visit a few times a year. Even though I'm racing for Switzerland, I'm proud to be a citizen of Liechtenstein as well." (cyclingpub.com, 19 Dec 2017)
